A long time Long Island resident, Kevin Foley graduated from Seton Hall High School in 1965, where he averaged 30 ppg as a senior and was coached by the legendary Frank Layden (President/Head Coach Utah Jazz).  Foley held the Suffolk and Long Island high school basketball career-scoring records for many years.  He received a basketball scholarship to Seton Hall University and was captain in 1968-1969, averaging over 14 ppg.  In 1994, Kevin Foley was inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in honor of his outstanding basketball career. 

     During Coach Foley’s 23 years at the helm, he has led his teams to an overall 410-130 record, recording nine 20-plus winning seasons.  His teams have made the play-offs 22 straight years, playing in 12 semi-finals, winning 6 regional championships, and 1 national title.  Coach Foley’s teams have won 12 Regional Sportsmanship Awards and 1 National Sportsmanship Award.  Over 41 former players have gone on to continue their playing careers at four-year Division II and Division III schools. 

     In addition to his 23 years of coaching women’s basketball at Suffolk CC, he is a full professor of Health and Human Services at SCCC and is currently the Director of Athletics, for the second time in his career.  Other academic awards he has received:  New York State Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, 2004; Distinguished Faculty Award, 2003; Outstanding Community College Teacher, University of Texas, 1983; and Teacher Who Made a Difference, SCCC, 1981.  

Tenure as Athletic Director

 Under his leadership, the SCCC Athletics program has won a national championship, produced over 25+ All-Americans, won the prestigious Mickey Crowley Metropolitan Officials Sportsmanship Award multiple times for the college athletic program who best displayed sportsmanship throughout the school year.
