Selden, New York - After spearheading one of the most dangerous offenses in the country, America, Suffolk Community College Softball sophomore infielder Brooke Bove was named 2024 Region XV Player of the Year, as voted on by the coaches. Bove makes it back-to-back Region XV Player of the Year honors for the Sharks program after Jaden Thompson received it last season.
Bove was Suffolk's top offensive threat this season, leading the country and the Sharks in batting average (.636) while also ranking tops on the team in on base percentage (.661), hits (28), and triples (5). The Lindenhurst High School product played a major role in leading a Sharks offense that is in the top five in five different statistical categories nationally, leading the country in slugging percentage (.720) while ranking second in batting average (.439), third in on base percentage (.511), and five and sixth in triples (22) and sacrifice flies (10).
Bove was also second on the team with a 1.182 slugging percentage, 24 RBIs, and three home runs while also ranking in the top ten in the country in four other statistical categories, ranking third in on base percentage (.661) and slugging percentage (1.182) while being fourth in sacrifice flies (4) and ninth in triples (5).
Bove registered nine multi-hit games this season, including three games with three or more hits, connecting for a season-high four hits twice during a doubleheader against Regional opponent Dutchess back on April 6th. She also has posted seven multi-RBI games with a season-best four RBIs against Orange County Community College on April 13th and Monroe-Bronx on April 23rd.
The sophomore also was a force on defense for the Sharks, tying for first with three double plays turned and ranking second with 30 putouts.
