Softball volunteers at the Special Olympics Polar Plunge

On Saturday November 21st the women's softball team volunteered at the 6th annual Freezin for a Reason Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics of New York at Cedar Beach in Mt. Sinai. The team was stationed inside the registration tents getting over 1,000 plungers signed up for their plunge into the frigid Long Island Sound. The event which was hosted by the Town of Brookhaven raised over $150,000 for Special Olympics of New York. The money will help the Special Olympics cover the costs of equipment, training, competitions and venues. Special Olympics New York is an organization that allows athletes with special needs to train and compete year-round in 22 Olympic-style sports.
