Bio

Head Coach Victor Correa enters his 10th year as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Suffolk County Community College.  Coach Correa began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Queens College, N.Y., before moving on to become the varsity basketball coach at Suffolk Lutheran High School, St. James, N.Y.  After working in the financial district for eleven years, Correa joined the coaching staff at Suffolk County Community College as an Assistant Coach, before moving up to Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

As a player, Correa enjoyed a successful career at Bellport High School as a four year Varsity player.  During his high school career, his teams won two County Championships, while earning All County, All Long Island and All State honors.  While at Suffolk County Community College he was the starting point guard for two seasons while earning Honorable Mention All Region XV honors.  Correa accepted a scholarship to play for Queens College where he was the starting point guard for his final two years.  While at Queens, Correa set a single game record by amassing twenty one assists in one game.  Coach Correa received his Bachelors degree in Accounting from Queens College and his Masters in Secondary Education from Dowling College.

Coach Correa has built an outstanding program that competes yearly for a Region XV title and one that is also recognized Nationally. Correa's best season's came over a two year period in which the Shark's produced an 55-5 record. In the 2017/18 season they finished 27-3 eventually losing to Nassau CC in the Region XV championship game. In the 2018/19 season the Sharks finished the regular season 27-0, ranked #1 in the Nation and were named the Region XV champions after defeating Nassau CC in the Region XV title game. This led to an appearance in the NJCAA (Div. III) National Tournament in Rochester, MN.  In that time period Correa has produced two Region XV Player of Year (Steven Tynes 2018, Steven Tynes 2019) and three NJCAA All Americans: 1st team All American: Steven Tynes 2018, Steven Tynes 2019. 

3rd team All American: Cheick Sy-Savane 2016.  Coach Correa was named Region XV (Div. III) Coach of the Year for two consecutive seasons (2018, 2019) and NJCAA District 5 (Div. III) Coach of the Year during the 2019 season. 

Using athletics, Correa works on and off the court to help build character and resiliency in the young men who come through his program. His goal for every player is to pursue their education and solidify their future.  

Coach Correa is a Business teacher at Eastport South Manor Jr/Sr High School in Manorville, NY.  He and his wife, Kescha, have three children (Travis, Trevor and Tristan) and reside in Bellport, NY.
