A Battle of LI Hoops For All!
It Was A Battle To The End!
Women's Game:
Nassau 63
Suffolk 60
A hard fought battle from start to finish! The Sharks led most of the way only to come up short is the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. After a great half-court shot at the end of the first half by freshman Lindsey Devine, the Sharks came out with a 35-30 lead. Sophomore Aysha Shirley hit a last second 3 point shot from way deep, but it was too late - the Lions took game #1 of the Battle of LI Hoops! Shirley led the Sharks with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists and Freshman Chrissy Hobson had 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Men's Game:
Suffolk 62
Nassau 48
The streak is alive! The Sharks remain undefeated at 21-0 after taking game #2 of the Battle of LI Hoops! The Sharks led at the half, 29-14. The Lions made it interesting and closed the gap at one point to make it a 7 point game late in the second half, but the Sharks dug a little deeper and pulled out the W! Sophomore James Signer pulled down 14 rebounds and made 8 incredible blocks and Sophomore Steven Tynes led the way with 23 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals.
An incredible battle for both teams, witnessed by many, including Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Nassau County Executive Laura Curran (pictured here with our Sharks Cheer Team). An epic night for all involved!
GO SHARKS!
